I finally voted and picked the top one. I agree with the fact that it will look better on a variety of backgrounds, and also, the second one could still be used where appropriate, it just wouldn't be the main logo.

That being said, the top has started to regain some ground, but the flames still have nearly two thirds of the vote.

i was waiting to see what happened but, the work on page six looked really good the problem was the silhouette so,

made this from scratch. the band was made from shapes of people dancing then seperate shapes of instruments, i'm pretty sure this could be legaly sold, meaning free and clear to use ;)

the photoshop is 1280x960 the grey and gradient is seperate, just thew it in the example for effect :)

what do you guys think?

Very awesome. Lol. I threw mine together in 5 mins with no references and it sucked so I'm glad someone was less lazy then I and made this. Lol. Are you planning on trying to run with the whole theme?

i would consider taking on the project as it's going to be completely custom.

I'd help too. And I'm sure there are many people on this forum who'd jump in with graphics and ideas too (if I named names I know I'd miss some, so I won't bother). If we're lucky we could get some new code in FoFiX too, and be able to make a theme completely unlike any other. (I can dream, right?)

Time permitting, next weekend I'll take this poll down and replace it with one choosing the text to go beside the new logo for banners and so forth. Providing nothing drastic happens during the week, it looks like the flame one will be the new official logo.
HOWEVER, that's not to say that they won't both be used. Each has advantages and disadvantages, and work for different situations. For example, the original may get used as the google code page project logo, whereas the flame one is the program's icon.
We'll see what happens after next weekend.
