Small changes in new revision. New theme.ini settings and static killswitch tail effect.

Also, the scoring is
1: 0%
2: 25%
3: 50%
4: 75%
5: 95%
6: 100%

Thanks for clearing that up for me. IMO it seems silly to score a star at 0%...
I don't really mind hadicaps affecting stars, really... I suppose it's fair. My main problem is just if I FC a song, I want it to show that I did. I suppose it should really show that I FC'd a song without handicaps as a better achievement than with handicaps... That's my own ethical dillema, I guess.

One question though... If I played a song with the tightest hitwindow and most restricted hopo rules etc (so I get a > 1 handicap) and play on FoF or GH star scoring... Would it be theoretically possible to get gold stars without getting 100%?

You raise an interesting point. At the moment, it would bump you down to 5 stars were you to do that.
Fixing that now, but beyond that glitch, it would only be possible in Rock Band scoring.

...Do you mean it would bump you down if you did FC it? Sorry, that statement confused me a little. If gold star condition is 100%, I don't think you should get gold stars unless you hit 100%, >1 handicap or not.

---- EDIT ----

FoFiX issue 555
For some reason scores on the normal "list" setlist view are showing next to the song above the song the scores are for.
For example, in this screenshot by samot28 [http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/4646/capturerix3.jpg] the top score on "Cool For Cats" is 21920 and the top score for "Eye of the Tiger" is 95603

Yes, that's what I meant, and it's fixed. And, if a star condition is based on accuracy (whether 100% or the Accuracy-based star scoring mode) you will not get additional stars because of your handicap.

Which is all implemented in r983, along with making it so 1 star is > 0, and making it so you see your effective handicap in game. And... I guess that's all. Advise to those seeking it? Staying up one night until 4 am and calling in the next day is not beneficial to sleeping the next night.

Nope. Definitely not. I make a habit of not doing that...
Does that mean you're off for the night? I'm just wondering if you caught my edit above... It's no big deal for now, just something to get fixed before release (candidate)

New theme.ini setting

Code: Select all

fretK_color=#FFFFFF

enables static killswitch color FX. it's disabled by default ( fretK_color=#000000 ).
Tested on RB and Megalight themes, it looks... fine. I'll make killswitch effect frequency dependable on BPM (it's constant right now).

I meant to say conducive. Beneficial to? I suppose not, but still. Questionable language use is never acceptable.

Oh, that's fixed in r986. My desk, on the other hand, just fell apart. Enough, I say. Now I sleep.

Thanks. You've earned it.

Snip!

Get Beta4 there's a chance that the bug you're describing has already been taken care off.

In general I think that the bug reporting process should be something like this:
  1. Find a bug
  2. Make sure to test it on the latest beta.
Latest revision if you're running from svn.
  3. Make sure it's not a settings (clean config)
  4. Report it!
  5. Get someone to confirm it.
  6. Wait for a fix

About the whole star business, in rock band I think it's impossible to get gold stars on non expert difficulties. Since we're implementing (well it seems like we are, and I'm all for it) 7 stars for FC, I think that we should implement star restrictions based on handicap penalty.
How about something like this?

DifficultyGoldFC
Easy95%100%
Medium90%100%
Hard85%95%
Expert85%90%

As you can see can see lower difficulties requires less handicaps for gold/fc stars, according to the table I just did. It would be nice to see others opinions on this matter.

It's not like I dislike sleeping, I really do like it to be honest. It's the whole wake up/go to sleep business I don't like.

Sorry if this is in the wrong thread but on 3.100 beta 4 why am I docked points from my score? It says it adjusts my score and it takes points away. I thought it was because I use 2finger chords (only on 123 and 124 chords my kb doesn't recognize) but on songs where there isn't a single 3finger chord, I still get docked points. wtf. Even if there is 3 finger chords in the song and they are the ones I can actually perform and I do, why should I get docked?

Ha, its all in the thread, READ or search thread for handicaps. oh and it should tell you why they are docked, and just turn off 2finger chords if you know that there are not 3finger chords in a song for now until some logic is added for that situation
