Progress on issue 275 committed in r606 (also fixed issue 393) :

Spoiler:The slowdown feature is currently disabled through code. No user option yet, as it doesn't work right yet. No menu yet for the same reason as well.

However, those of you who would like to try playing a song at half speed, uncomment line 459 of GameEngine.py from r606 and run from source. The song.ogg still plays full speed but it mixes with all the other separated tracks playing at half speed. The notes are now correctly lined up with the slowed-down guitar / bass / drum tracks so half-speed (and quarter speed) practice is possible for those of you that would like to hack it in yourself for a game or two.

I'll improve it as I can. Hope to have something good enough to put on a menu or option for the beta release.

---- EDIT ----

Also just merged Blazingamer's fix for issue 390 in r607.

Now I gotta prepare some lunch / dinner and eat lunch... then I'll get back to working on the practice slowdown mode for 3.035 beta 2.

MFH, if I may make a suggestion, has it been considered of doing a "select a character" kind of thing to FOF? Playing with lot of people, and wanting to select a different song. causes a lot of... misnaming among my family. Possible addition for a future update?

Possible, although not planned for very soon: issue 394. One of the other coders might decide to tackle it.

What about label/album.png memory caching or background streaming? I opened this issue explaining myself: http://code.google.com/p/fofix/issues/detail?id=395#c0

Yes, thats a good one too, but as you said you've already created an issue. It's in the list, someone will work on it... thank you :)

Progress on issue 275:

Spoiler:New slowdown test option in r608:

Under Audio Settings -> Advanced Audio Settings -> "Slowdown":
"Full speed" (default) - no slowdown, play all audio tracks, play full speed,
practice mode should work normally. Score uploads enabled.
"1/2 speed" - plays back all audio tracks except song.ogg at half speed. Practice
modes will probably not work. Score uploads disabled.
"1/4 speed" - plays back all audio tracks except song.ogg at quarter speed. Practice
modes will probably not work. Score uploads disabled.

---- EDIT ----

also, 1/2 speed & 1/4 speed modes won't allow you to unlock any songs in career mode.

Regarding the so-called "RB2 Co-op mode," the original Rock Band coop works in exactly the same way from what I've seen. The same thing goes for most "RB2" features, with the obvious exception of the setlist display (thanks VERY MUCH, hman333). As such, we'll need graphics for the RB1 theme as well (can probably use the RB2 theme's GFX). Also, once I get to use my friend's XBox 360 again, I can probably supply some necessary coop sounds (fail and rescue). Do note that when the entire band fails you can use the original failsound.ogg. For a first alpha version of it though, it looks fantastic.

Also for version 3.035, don't forget issue 389! It should probably be considered after drum fill and big rock ending support is complete but it'd make me feel a lot better to see the issue marked as "Accepted", lol.

EDIT: word, you already got it.

EDIT2: Hmm, I just played Eye of the Tiger, and it didn't show the results screen. I didn't change anything in my fof.ini since the last couple revisions. It's probably a bug with the logic for disabling score uploading when songs have been slowed down or something.

EDIT3: While testing the RB coop, i was playing guitar with Jurgen on expert drums. Whenever he completed an Overdrive phrase, his OD bar would go CRAZY. He'd get a full bar from a single phrase.

MFH,

Just wanted to let you know that version .035 is running smoother than any other version I have tried yet. I have a Compaq Laptop with an AMD 64 chip, and a 32mb Nvidia Graphics card - with 512mb of memory.

Just some random info for you,

Thanks,

Matt!
I'm happy with my Ion Rocker kit and Roland KD-8 double bass kick trigger!

@MFH - I have a few AGP cards sitting around at home, I'll take a look and see if they are worth sending to you to out perform an MX440.

I know I have a Voodoo 5, but I'm not sure if the drivers will be good enough to even be decent (or if there are even Vista drivers if you have that).

I also have an unknown but rather crappy Geforce card that was in my desktop before it croaked. I think it's marginally better than an MX 440. I can PM you more details when I go home in a few days. It may need a better fan because I think the bearing on the one it has is shot and sometimes doesn't spin.

Yup, I added these and a few other bugs in issue 278 (http://code.google.com/p/fofix/issues/detail?id=278).
I forget. LETS ROCK!

MFH - I know for sure I have a working ATI Radeon 9200SE lying around. It's not too much better than an GeForce4 MX440. I've used both those cards and the Radeon is better but it still sucks. I don't know if you'd like a Radeon, I'm partial to NVidia myself. I also have a GeForce 7600GS AGP, but I don't know if it works, the last computer it was in kinda died and came back to life halfway when the 7600 was replaced. It was a strange situation, but it was a pretty damn good card while I still used it. These days my PCI-e 8800GT is all I need, lol.

I've been making progress on the Drum Trainers and released a few to get some suggestions. If you want to do something like add them in Tutorials have fun, just gimme a PM or something.

Well since it's based on both it shouldn't be hard but is it really any better?
One thing that would be cool would, having a option to render the "selected" image as pulsing above the normal image for menu entries.
Just have it go fully translucent and back to solid, with the normal image as a background. although priority should probably be for adding these kind of image menus to pause, and options first.

alpha testers - r609

Improvements to RB2 setlist, Sorting tiers added, list all songs in library.
-new option added in quickplay tiers- off, normal, sorting
-new option added listing mode-normal, listall
sort by band difficulty, support for random.png and emptylabel.png
new theme.ini settings
song_rb2_name_color
song_rb2_name_selected_color
song_rb2_diff_color
song_rb2_artist_color

sry it took so long been playing my experimental build with 3player, but don't get excited because its gonna be awhile before any release comes

we should be close to finishing rb2 setlist, let me know anything else that needs to be done. i think most of the kinks are worked out.

Glad i got it squeezed in before next beta
