I appologise if this has already been mentioned, but when playing custom drum songs the bass will automattically trigger if there is a note on the yellow line and the note is hit (meaning i dont have to press the pedal and the combo will not break),if the yellow line has no note on it then it wont trigger on its own.this does not happen on RB 1&2 songs only on customs.I am using 3.035 beta and have tried it with RB2 theme and GHWT theme with the same results, cheers

I agree with you man, but seriously, reading stupid noobs who are saying "OMFG1!1!1! whar 1s dl luink w4na RB stlist! bat c'nt got it w0rk!", EVERYDAY, really pisses me off, and I'm surely not the only one. Having a separate forum where Alpha could discuss without all sh*t comment inbetween would be great, and we could keep this thread up, with coders giving here now and then a new about the features...

And you're not a noob since you can wait for official release rather than complain about test versions that are here for testing (obviously...)

hey guys been busy lately, i should be able to work some on getting some of the new rb2 stuff ready this weekend. and to touch on a few things, yes this is still alpha and its not released so like death_au and worldrave said don't post all this crap about getting it working. and i do think it would be a good idea to have a separate alpha thread for releases and bug reports ONLY. anything else would be deleted on the spot. Alphas should be considered very unstable and are for testing purposes only or else they would already be releases, they are not for everybody.

It's not like I dislike sleeping, I really do like it to be honest. It's the whole wake up/go to sleep business I don't like.

http://fofix-alpha.forumotion.com/

This is a very rough outline to the forum so its still a W.I.P. I will probably make different forums using different host so i can find the best one but there is the first one.

Honestly i find Forumotion a pain to use so i may switch to a different host

I'm just upgrading / reloading / replacing PCs for a large, widespread industry. Nothing special, nothing exciting, just long hours of PC-tech grunt work. The part I like least is moving computers on foot outside in the snow to nearby buildings. :freezingmyassoff:

I wake up sober all the time. Just typically NOT on New Year's Day. Was kinda looking forward to the festivities.

---- EDIT ----

Also, I'm trying to find the problem with issue 374 and so far, the unedited MIDIs seem to work just fine with the track order. I've looked through Song.py where I worked on the track identification code before, and simplified it a bit -- but didn't change any logic so it should be the same as before. I swapped the unedited notes.mid in for Synchronicity II (RB1DLC) and the drum track is indeed first. It let me play guitar and drums (I also let Jurgen play drums on expert) and everything seemed fine.

I'll keep testing other songs randomly until I see a problem, and will check my new log entries attached to the Log MIDI Sections option which show which sequences are recognized as which parts... but so far so good. I am committing this new code now as r600.

---- EDIT ----

Obviously, anyone who knows for sure of a song that epic fails with an unedited notes.mid, please provide details so's I can reproduce the problem and fix it.

---- EDIT ----

Is the problem just that empty Rhythm Guitar and Lead Guitar parts show up? Because I just tested every single part on RB1DLC - Can't Stand Losing You and that's all I could see as being wrong... if so this is a very minor problem.

---- EDIT ----

Committed changes in r601:
New debug setting "notes-unedited.mid" : Auto (default), Off
New log setting "Log Unedited MIDIs" : Off (default), On

Caution! This revision enables usage of "notes-unedited.mid" files instead of "notes.mid" by default, if available. This seems to work fine for me so far but this rev should flush out which songs (if any) still have problems with track ordering.

just played with r601. It reads the notes-unedited.mid just fine except for now we have 5 instrument choices instead of 3 and 2 of those do not work...

Guitar <- Works Great
Lead Guitar <- plays song, no notes shown
Bass Guitar <- Works Great
Rhythm Guitar <- plays song, no notes shown
Drums <- Works Great

Yep, that seems to be the only problem so far. Should be fixed in r602, let me know if you find any songs that don't work right with notes-unedited.mid

There are a lot of songs that don't show up the lyrics (in notes.mid and notes-unedited.mid) still. Examples are "Kansas
- Carry On Wayward Son" and "ACDC - Let There Be Rock (Live)". I thought that issue 374 would fix this, but maybe is a midi fault?

Yep. Conversion / ripping fault, lyrics stored as text events and not lyric events. See issue 236. Can't do anything about this via FoFiX.

Doesn't "notes-unedited.mid" aren direct rips without conversion?

I have no idea what's involved in ripping.

the notes-unedited.mid are in the exact same form that Harmonix puts them on either the disk or the DLC package. I've looked at both of the mids mentioned and there are no lyric on the vocal track in the mid file.

I would ask that is someone has the time to go through each of the songs in the RB Catalog (I know that is a ton of songs) long enough to see if there are lyrics or not and then PM me a list of all songs that do not display lyrics. I will do some more checking to see if I can come up with an alternate source for those mids to see if this is truely an mistake on Harmonix's end or the ripper's/tool's
====================================================================

EDIT: I just checked the mid for Kansas - Carry On Our Wayward Son straight from the game disc.
