MFH-Alarian Mod v2.900 - New releases here!
@MFH: The comparison is just too funny!
Note that the source build fine, but hmmm, where are the pyo files?
They are no where to be found, i'll look at Debian packaging files.
Edit: It seems pyo and pyc are the same thing.
Still, i don't have all that files that are in your library.zip/pygame.
What's the pygame version contained in the current pygame directory?
PS: Aiming to bed soon..

Hmm... well FoF uses pygame 1.7.1, and it is based on SDL (for which I have a bunch of .DLL files here in Windows).
Oh well - no biggie right now, no worries... when you feel like messing with it I bet you'll figure something out. For now I'm just going to get a couple more things done from the To Do list and release 2.985.

Well, many French guys themselves aren't aware there's been a reform in 1990... :pmyfingershurt wrote:Blackjack - Ah, I see now -- once again my American ignorance shines through, the reform thing is news to me. Multiple French translations with different names would be fine with me... just so long as I don't have to choose one because I am in no position to choose correctly
I'll update the first post with your translation link and an appropriate label for the 1990 reform, thank you for clearing that up for me.
That's kinda like the binary prefix change from 1999 (where "megabyte" becomes "mebibyte", and kilo = 1000 instead of 1024, and so on) : it's been years since the reform, but only a minority is aware, and nearly nobody applies it. :laugh:
Anyway, I've now labeled my french.mo differently, so that you can include both French translations in your official patches.
BTW, did you get my updated font sets?
MFH, you're the man.....BTW, if you think the past few versions have been smooth and fast, wait until you try 2.985...
*bows down*
JcFerggy wrote:Now I might just be ignorant, but why not combine both french translations into one so it could be easier for the public?
Ideally, that's what is going to happen.
That, or we'll just fight to death. :p
J/k; fablaculp and I will probably try to merge at one point; each of us just need to make concessions (for example, he doesn't want accented caps, and I just can't see "neck" translated as "track"

And here's a nominate for "Most minor bug I could ever get" :p :
If you select a language other than English, then delete the translation file, when returning to the game, FoF correctly falls back to English, but for some reason in the options, it incorrectly shows that another language is selected (e.g. : you have language set to French, you quit FoF, delete french.mo, launch FoF : Language is set to "Brazilian portuguese", while correctly displaying strings in English).

Blackjack - lol, you find the best bugs... no idea how to fix that so for now I'll just put it on the Known Issues list
I'll add both French translations to the next patch - they will both show up in the Language selection in-game, right?
I'm just testing 2.985 now, I'm happy with the progress and have cut off the To Do list;
I had my HOPO Debug on, with neck speed set to BPM mode, with an animated background playing, in windowed mode, with 8 or 9 other applications open, including Firefox with 7 tabs.... and I could barely notice the lag. I used to have difficulties with any ONE of the above conditions, let alone all of them at once. 2.985 is mainly about optimizations, although I didn't plan it that way
edit: oops forgot again to respond to that - I guess I missed your updated font sets, what were they for?

Yep; you just have to close your eyes and press the magic update button (yes, I know it's not like that, but let me dream of a perfect world :p ) and everything will go fine. :;):myfingershurt wrote:I'll add both French translations to the next patch - they will both show up in the Language selection in-game, right?
Mainly correctly displaying international characters :edit: oops forgot again to respond to that - I guess I missed your updated font sets, what were they for?
BlackJack wrote:A few themes use deprecated fonts.
Talking about that, I have made an International Fonts mod that, when activated, replace fonts without accents by the same font with accents (when possible; otherwise I used a very similar font) for the 3 "official" themes that needed updated/international fonts.
Other bonus : some fonts use less space between letters than before; it helps displaying some options that doesn't fit in the screen with the current fonts.
I just sent you a PM in case you want to download it.
You could then perhaps update the current themes with these new fonts, and/or include the mod for the next official patch, but that's up to you : as always, I provide, you decide.
I guess you then didn't get that PM, and I had already deleted the file, so I've uploaded it again here.
I've modified it to made it work as a mod even with the latest versions of MFH-Alarian -- where the "theme overwrite" feature broke --, though you now have to be careful and turn if off if you want to switch to another theme than 8bit, Gh1, or Gh2orig after it's been activated.
Of course, you can always overwrite the existing fonts directly.
And I believe you can replace the GH3 font by Alexfighter's updated one in the next official patches.

Gotcha, I'll take a look at that tomorrow. For now, enjoy:
Version 2.985 (9/8/2008, 11:15pm PST) -- Patch direct download -- Patch mediafire download
New since 2.981:
++Added Blazingamer's tail render order fix, and updated 3D note rendering logic
++Updated in-game credits
++Duplicated MainText.png from GH2 theme to GH1 theme to add patch support for menu
++RbMFH overdriveneck.png now smaller and more transparent (please speak up if this is your neck, I'm not sure who made it)
++RbMFH theme now using kawaii's overdrive bar & glow from this post
++Added neck fallback logic to "defaultneck.png" if chosen neck invalid and "Neck_1.png" not found
++Added death_au's RB mult.png, multB.png, and bassgroovemult.png to the RbMFH theme
++Added logic to catch strums without frets held and ignore them (used to act like overstrum)
++++Added user option to enable / disable this logic: "Fretboard Options" -> "Ignore open strums" ("Yes" = default)
++Added fablaculp's 2.981.2 French translation file and support code
++Added BlackJack's French (Reform 1990) translation file (v0.51)
++Added Alexfigher's 2.980+ Spanish translation file (v1.1b)
++Added TypusMensch's updated German translation file
++Added logic to support more translatable phrases as Alexfighter demonstrates in this post
++Added logic to precalculate static background and lyric sheet scale factors instead of recalculating every frame (should help lag)
++Rewrote a more efficient algorithm to determine note streaks of 100 and up (for displaying "xxx Note Streak!!", should help lag)
++Added logic to catch and filter out all unnecessary neckspeed re-calculations (only during actual BPM changes now; should help lag)
++Removed several unnecessary layers of VBPM logic; now only one algorithm controls VBPM & neckspeed instead of three fighting for control (should help lag)
++Added translation fix for "fretted by" string (newline now included in translation call)
++Added user option under "Fretboard Options" -> "Static strings" (default On) (should help lag when on)
++Prevented starpower from raising above 100% from killswitch action
++Added initialization for Dialogs.py: SongChooser's render() function's local variables notesTotal, ****, and noteStreak to prevent "undefined" crashes
++Added black background layer behind background of FileChooser ("Song List Settings -> Select Song Library", for example) to hide the "Options" background still being rendered underneath
++Added precalculated full-screen scale constants to stage rotation array instead of calculating on the fly (should help lag)
++Added user option to "MFH-Alarian Mod V2.9xx" -> "Whammy saves SP" (default No) -- to enable/disable slowdown of starpower / overdrive depletion rate with killswitch
++Fixed logic to apply the "miss volume" when releasing a sustained note early:
++++Ensured killswitch volume logic doesn't even get attempted unless there are currently "playedNotes" (should help lag)

Little is known that Blackfriday is in fact conjoined twins.
Plus, "he" worked twice as hard as the others. :p
