however, the GH mod isn't showing up for me: the browser still shows the album art on cassette tapes, instead of CD's, the title screen remains the original, and only the keys and notes have changed in the game screen (the background remains the same). is there a solution to this problem?

When you turn it on, you must also select 'apply settings'

-Guitar Hero difficulty names (Expert, Hard, ... )

i like this

That's already been done.

Go to Settings->Language
and choose 'Custom'

This seems a little Kludgy, don't you think?
No one would ever intuitively know to do this.
Can't we just put an option in the RH-Mod Settings area
to "Use GH Difficulty Names" ?

Not really.

It was far easier than changing it in the code (like other people did and it breaks other stuff)

The translation is by far the easiest and most customizable way of doing it.

Not everyone wants GH difficulty names. This allows them to turn it on and off easily.

I seem to have a problem.

I can get the mod to work and such, but it freezes when it gets to the "tuning guitar" loading screen. I did not have this problem with other versions of the game. Do you have any idea what the problem could be?

Comps specs?
Fof version?
Any mods?
Graphics drivers up to date?
Desktop color quality set to 32bit?
Any firewall, anti virus software?
Any error messages coming up?
Anything in your log file?

And take me through the steps with what you done with the mod.

Mike.

I had similar problems trying to get Alarian's mod to work. Finally I used the version with the auto-installer and it's fine, but adding certain other mods to it locks it up as described above. I find that a separate install for other mods works best. It's a little more cumbersome to have several standalone FoF mods on your drive, but it's one possible solution.

I already solved the prob (after 100 years!). The answer was just in the FAQ in RF-Mod's Wiki.

EDIT: Never mind, I fixed it. The .ini files for my songs were messed up, and this version of the game is less tolerant of it than the other ones I've used.

RF-mod is very good mod, thanks for it. It is so groundbreaking that I think it is fork of FOF.

I found one crash-bug in linux32 version:

FretsOnFire-1.2.451-RF-mod-4.15-linux32/FretsOnFire.bin/View.py:186:
DeprecationWarning: integer argument expected, got float
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "GameEngine.py", line 377, in run
File "GameEngine.py", line 369, in main
File "View.py", line 208, in render
File "GuitarScene.py", line 813, in render
AttributeError: GuitarSceneClient instance has no attribute 'lastEvent'

This happens if I set "RF-mod settings -> Performance Settings -> Disable stats" = yes
Crash occurs when I try start song.

And one feature request:
If song previewing is disabled, user can press some button and the song preview will start.
(If previewing is enabled, browsing the song list is very sticky. So preview must be disabled. But I wish still hear preview of some songs)

@Rouge_F

Is it possible to install a mod with yours? Like UC? I am not a huge fan of the default FoF theme; I've gotten used to using UC's mod. I really dig the way it plays. I know this is a newbie question, but do I just drop the UC mod into the dir and let it fly? I've done that and tried to turn the mod on using RFmod's settings, to no avail. and UC's settings don't show up in any menu. What am I doing that I shouldn't, and vice versa?
