For some reason I can not see any stars in the score rating, its just blurry greyness.
Neither can I see any of those multiplyer dots (x1 x2 x3 x4).

I've tried to uninstall FoF and deleted the files in appdata, but that didnt help.
Any suggestion?

Thanks

What OS are you running?

What video card do you have?

What video drivers are you using?

I have added a new (and hopefully fixed) linux package for 4.15.

I think I fixed the cx_freeze packaging errors so it SHOULD run on most any linux system.

You can download the latest linux version from here

There seem to be 2 or 3 active linux users on the thread right now, so if you can tell me if it works for you, that would be great.

There's a BIG difference to someone using yours for the programming part of it, and then doing all the rest, verses completely using everything one did, and just changing backgrounds and a few sounds. That was my point. Plus i DID ask your permission first. And i have been VERY respectful to you since day one.(Look in my credits also. THAT's the big difference.)
And my mod was a whole overhaul to look and feel JUST like GH3, which i did. I didn't want people to start
changing my mod to something it's not, when they can use a generic base to make one with (Exactly what i did). I'm just trying to be more clear with you on what i was trying to tell that guy. Plus, That's why i mentioned it wasn't meant in a bad way, but seriously, your comparing apples with oranges. I used your code to accomplish certain things, and did everything else from there, all pictures, all artwork, all placements, all sounds. I just don't want people to start taking my GH3 mod, changing some backgrounds, and maybe a few sounds, and releasing it as a COMPLETE mod THEY said they did, but they DIDN'T, and offered NO CREDIT either. Which defeats the whole purpose of why i made the mod. It's to be GH3 ONLY. I feel i have that right to say that at least. Maybe i just need some sleep now. Sorry if i sound uptight, i might just be too tired to make my point correctly. Plus i'm not the 1st mod'r complaining about this subject matter, and other's also agreed when they spoke up.

No, the big difference is releasing something to the public (especially with an open source project) and then getting bent when someone else uses it.

Let's take a quick look. Your overhaul used quite a bit of stuff that was used before. I wouldn't really call it a generic base.

Your mod has roots going back to raph's original GH mod, hering's mod, and crazy neo's stuff

In fact 29 files in 1.3MB come from raph's stuff. Ranging from fonts, to notes, keys, fail sounds, and loading screens.

13 files in 56k come from hering (which in turn may come from crazy.neo) in the form of the base svgs for the amp.

29 files in 5.5MB come from you. Some of it the gh3 rockmeter stuff, some of it the backgrounds for the various screens, some new crunch sounds, and menu song (the backgrounds and menu.ogg take up the most amount of disk space.)

As for what khilty has let's check it.

In fact 29 files in 1.3MB come from raph. Same as yours

13 files in 56k come from hering. Same as yours

20 files in 700k come from you. The files consist of the GH3 amp files, the crunch sounds, and the queue buttonsheets.

He has added 19 files, with 19.4MB of stuff. backgrounds for various screens, new menu sounds, new perfect sounds, new pose, and new neck.

Now as far as respect, your big complaint seems to be that the 'big difference' is that you added me to the credits, and he didn't credit you. Well as far as the credits go I see "I have used the Following.....RF-mod' Well yes, that's true.

But because this guy didn't do this for you you're jumping down his throat and getting all bent out of shape. Seems a bit of an overraction to me.

Not everyone is out there making mods. For those that are, I don't want to bully them into not making them anymore because they fear that some people are too touchy to allow their work to be touched. Sometimes I am guilty of this myself, but I try not to be.

Just because you're not the first to complain about this doesn't make it any nicer, or more right. If you have strong feelings about other people using your stuff, then don't release it. When you release stuff to the public for free, there's a certain amount of implied fair use.

I've tried your mod in my Ubuntu 7.10, and it runs "out of the box" ;)

Keep up the good work Alex!

I'm not getting bent out of shape over it dude. I just don't want people to use GH3 as a starter, because it's made FOR a GH3 mod, i don't care if people use the GH2 mod i did, i only did GH3 to STAY as GH3, which i am the ONLY person who made dual meter mods, if you checked. I don't mind people using my stuff. A lot of videos on youtube are using mine, i don't mind that, that's a compliment. I am just a little picky about using the GH3 one, since i made it for ONLY one purpose, that's all. I'm not MAD about it, i just prefer not to have used it.
I didn't get much sleep the past few days, so maybe it came across a little stronger then i wanted it too, that's all. And i DID release it for everyone to enjoy. But noted, granted i did use your code and herings code, if it weren't for my GH2, and GH3 mods, there wouldn't currently be ANY mods with dual meters to base them off of, unless someone else made them, since i did the only and 1st ones out there. I'm just picky out my GH3 mod, and i have reasons for it.

Good to hear.

When I did the last one I forgot a few important steps after the cx_freeze. That's why it worked for me, but not everyone else.

The good news is that I can now reliably build a linux version from now on.

The funny thing is that it worked like a charm before, then all of a sudden they just disappeared.
Like I said before, I uninstalled FoF (thought something might be wrong in the library.zip?) and I also erased the files in application data.
Installed FoF again, but still no stars or multiplyer dots.

Anyway.

I'm sitting on XP home with a 8500GT, drivers version 6.14.11.6921.

Thanks. Your mod rocks anyways!

::Edit::
I found out that if i lower the resolution to 1024*768 I see like one third of the stars. ???
The rest is just grey blurryness.

Works right away in my Kubuntu 7.10. Also it works fine with python-opengl 3. No need to downgrade to version 2.

Color HOPO black was not included in the mods. I copied it from 4.12 to 4.15 with no issues but was there a reason?

Just for reference, what did you do that you hadn't last time ? And why does it now work with python-opengl 3 ?

Sounds like you need to change your graphics drivers. Some versions have issues (either upgrade or downgrade)

I didn't include all the libraries it required.

cx_freeze doesn't find all the dependencies. Some had to be copied in by hand.

It does not work with pyopengl 3. it's using the pyopengl2 libraries that come with the package.

I have this strange issue on my pc where FoF with RF mod is extremely choppy when single core usage is enabled, but if I manually change it to dual core usage, FoF runs as smooth as silk. I was wondering if there was an easy flag to set or way to change the code so that single core usage is not forced by RF mod.

I can confirm it works flawlessly on my ubuntu 7.10. Thanks Alex!
(mmmh... everyone seems to use ubuntu here :). Woul be nice if someone with different distributions can test the new version too)

EDIT:

since I wasn't able to launch the program just by double-clicking it under Gnome, I changed a bit the initial shell script:

Code: Select all

#!/bin/sh
cd "$(dirname "$0")"
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH="`pwd`"
exec ./FretsOnFire.bin $@

what I did
-added double quotes to dirname parameter (otherwise won't work if there is a space in the path)
-cd to the dest dir, so ./FretsOnFire.bin will work even if launched from another dir
-used pwd to get the absolute path (dirname will give a relative path starting from the launching directory)
