White Note Dots... - ...and orange 5th fret

I was fiddling around in the FoF source codes and this is what I came up with. Its not much, but its a tiny step closer to looking more like Guitar Hero.

Pretty much all I did was change the colour of the 5th fret from purple to orange, and made it possible to have white parts on the 3d models for the notes. The screenshot below is of it in action with noob edition and RF-mod.


I'm not a programmer (or whatever they call themselves) and I don't know the tiniest bit about python. I made this mostly by following Rogue-F's guide and reading the diff logs that came with RF-Mod.

The file contains 2 different versions of the same mod, one for those who are using RF-mod and one for those with an unmodified library.zip. There is an installation guide in there as well.

Feedback would be appreciated, and if anyone has any problems with it then just post here and I'll see if i can help.

But i am begginning to matter that new mods are only for windows. We need a tutorial to build a working linux environment with all the props needed. I tried, but failed.

Nice work . Won't be downloading this, though, since i prefer the shape of Fozz's notes. Hopefully we'll eventually get those too with the same style colouring (blacks, whites, and the orange 5th).

FoZZ was having me add some code for things in the note mesh. I like the look of your notes.

Rather than having us duplicate effort if yours works we can just use that portion instead of me writing more stuff on the key part.

Sounds like a plan. If we put the code into the next release then both my and Seafoo's notes can be included and whichever one people want to use they can just choose in the Mod settings.

you should take a look at his note .dae and see if it works similarly to how you were wanting. if so then i can make that change the same in my mod as well

Oh yea, sorry I should have been more clear in exactly what it does. This mod isn't the actual note models or anything, it can add white parts to any notes, I just modified the guitar.py thing so that it renders "Mesh_001" as the whiter shade. I chose "Mesh_001" to be the whiter shade because that's what the 'dot' on the official models are that comes with it. So to sum it all up... with this mod for the notes... Mesh = Colour, Mesh_001 = White, Mesh_002 = black (or much darker version of colour really)... Does that clear anything up?

To make the white I added the following to line 226 in guitar.py
glColor4f(0.6 + color[0], 0.6 + color[1], 0.6 + color[2], color[3])

yea, sorry it's a windows mod, I should have stated that somewhere. I currently don't have a linux box to compile it under but as you said, if someone was to write a guide on how to setup the linux build environment then I could send you the .py files that I modified and you could do it yourself... that's if you're interested of course.

yea, sounds good. I already went through your diff logs and added everything to make sure it would work with RF-mod.

I just got the greatest F-ing idea ever. Why don't someone here find the guitar hero font, make the Logo the Guitar Hero Logo but make it Say Guitar Hero I and II, and make the background have someone from guitar hero on the background? That'd be sweet. Because I have all the Guitar Hero I and II songs on mine and my friends come over all teh time wanting to play it. They even bought me a Red Octain PS2 to USB adapter for my Guitar Hero controller lol. (I dont even own a PS2 to let ya know but i love this game and I take it to school with me for the fun of it to show off my playing cross roads on expert lol it draws a crowd around my laptop) I hope someone can do this please. hehe)
