It's finally over!
I bet a lot of you are thinking "Where the heck has binomialboy been?", and probably even more of you are thinking "Who the hell is binomialboy?"
I realize that I just dropped off the face of the forums almost a year ago, but I assure you, it was for a completely justifiable reason. I've spent the last several months under careful watch of the IRAA for suspected file-sharing and pirating. However, after all this time, they've finally decided they have no proof (due to very careful data storage on my part), and I'm off the hook! With the nightmare finally over, I figured I'd return to tell you guys that there is good news and bad news. The good news is I'm back, and should be able to start charting again. The bad news is that I'm most likely severely out of practice, and I lost some files with all the splitting up of data I had to do, so progress will be slow for a while. I don't even know what's happened around here since I left, but I assume I'll still be able to carve a niche out for myself again. Anyway, it's good to be back!

Also, if you like my work, and want to support me so I can stop eating ramen, feel free to donate. Donations of >$20 will net you a commission (any song you want, guitar and bass, guaranteed quality), and >$50 gets you a three song pack (but I'll be reasonable, nobody's going to do that...)

Re: It's finally over!
Honestly, I'm not sure what tipped them off. My guess is that there's a lot of random chance involved with who they decide to look in to, and I was just the lucky winner.

Re: It's finally over!
if ( and thats a big IF ) you decide to go back to pirating/ filesharing i would strongly suggest using better encryption. it has saved me loads of hassles over the years.. I've been pirating since back in the 80's when everything was on cassettes, ( sinclair spectrum and commadore 64 FTW ) since we went to broadband ( esp since we went fiber optic ) we have had to step up our game. after recent talks with virgin media ( our isp over here in the uk ) over our bandwidth usage we found out they can't read what we are DL and UL, they can see we are transferring stuff as it passes through the local backbone but couldn't read what the data was as it was encrypted. so far we havent had a single letter , warning or anything regarding illegal filesharing as they cannot prove what we are doing.
So i would recommend you getting better encryption. That is of course if you intend to carry on ( might be a bit better to lay low for a while even tho you have been cleared ) just to be on the safe side.
Can't really say i knew you, but i sympathise with anyone who gets investigated over filesharing. some of the crap the IRAA have pulled over the recent years is out of line, even if they are doing their job, doing things like suing dead people for DL music is a bit much..
Good to see a fellow pirate is free ( just like his software )

Encrypting tunnel proxies, seedbox with SFTP access. I've used both but the latter is definitely better. The torrent traffic never touches your computer.
Re: It's finally over!
Hey, I know you! Big fan of Yet Another Hero, downloaded a couple of the songs a little while ago, and they were great. Nice to see you back I guess.

Likewise Puppetz. I noticed I missed your triumphant return in my absence. By comparison to you coming back, my return is a fairly small deal. After all, you are one of the legends of FoF.

A somewhat unrelated question: What were these "data storage" methods you used to partially protect yourself from any criminal charges?

Oh, I put anything incriminating on a flash drive, which I had in a bank safe I rented, so as not to have it in my house while they searched.
