Re: console?
Rock Band or Guitar Hero guitars work well. I feel that the strum is higher quality on the GH guitar, but it doesn't have the mini fret buttons (which come in handy).

Re: console?
its probably the wrong section to post this in, but whatever.
anyways....
i use Xbox 360 Xplorer guitar that came with Guitar Hero II. its probably the best choice because it is cheap and durable (unlike the wireless guitars). mine is finally starting to wear out, and i have had it since Guitar Hero II came out for the 360. The wiring is starting to come loose, causing the controller to disconnect once in a while. other than that, it works perfectly. also, you wont need to buy anything extra for it. its just plug and play
whatever you do, dont get a guitar with a detachable neck. mine only lasted me a week before it started screwing up (the fret buttons would occasionally stop working). i also heard that the strum bar for Rock Band guitars doesnt work well for FoF.
i believe there is a topic similar to this one. try searching "what guitar controller do you use?" or something similar to that.

but i use the stratocaster for FoF. i like using the bottom frets. i get higher scores that way/

The 360 RB2 Drums work well? I have two X-Plorers and have been getting the itch for some drumming and that is what I am looking at getting. I'll need one of those wireless USB adapters, correct? Anything else? Is it a hassle to get everything set up or is it fairly self explanatory?
Re: console?
Bearing in mind of course, that I use Linux; it was just a matter of the wireless adaptor, plugging it in, and setting the keys.
Provided there are drivers on Windows (which I'm sure there are, why else would they sell the adapter?) the same principle should apply.
And yes, the RB2 drums beat the crap out of the originals.

Right. I was so tempted to just buy the RB1 set since it is $30 now. I got on youtube and watched some videos and couldn't take that plastic clang for 10 seconds, let alone an entire song. I'm just waiting for a price drop :)
Re: console?
Well there are two options, one if you want a good guitar that works well I would choose the guitar hero guitar but don't get the controllers that don't have the black on top of the frets because there not the latest version and they don't work well but if you want a more realalistic guitar you should get the rockband guitar especially the ones for rockband 2. Those have wooden necks but the strumming sucks

Don't get RB1 drums.
i've used both drums and overall RB2 ones are way better. stronger silenter and more durable. and it comes with a metal inlaid pedal.
(and has attachments for extra things... cant remember what their called tho...)
Re: console?
I use a Rock Band Strat. People here will **** about the squishy strum bar till they're blue in the face, but I love it. The internal design is pretty bad (the strum bar has some connection issues, but it's easily fixed), but the build quality is very high. Mine still looks and acts like new. Not to mention that it looks professional. The GH controllers look like kids toys.
Regardless of what you do, get an Xbox 360 guitar (preferably wired) so that you don't have to mess with adapters/drivers and such.

Yes. Wireless bad.
I prefer wired RB/GH guitars. the wireless need batteries and I don't seem to ever have any charged.
and they do look like kids toys, the GH controlers. That's one of the reasons I don't use them. (and they give me hand cramps so I can't use... Kinda pathetic right?)

Re: console?
I wouldn't mind the RB guitar strum if it worked consistently. They had some serious design flaws that they didn't bother to deal with when RB1 came out. The Xplorer guitar looks cheap, but it's durable. If they made one of them with solo buttons then it would be perfect.

Re: console?
The RB2 Guitar strums fine. Better than GH guitars i've used. But i think they made it with different kind of plastic.... It feels different.
