I'm not sure whether this has been said already, but just incase...
If you have a 360 guitar controller, simply plug it into a high speed USB port and use windows hardware installer when it pops up saying "found new hardware" and it will install the proper programs so that you can use your controller.

Right here:
Red Octane's XBOX 360 Gibson X-Plorer Guitar Drivers for Windows
You'll need to put it under "XBOX 360 Controller", it will work with the X-Plorer.

I have the RadioShack ps2 to usb adapter and using a ps2 sg controller (model PSLGH) but I cannot get windows to recognize button/strum bar presses. Every now and then in game controller properties if I hold down fret buttons for a while, they eventually show up, but the lag is like 20 seconds. I've tried using the drivers included on the cd from RadioShack, and also letting windows install its own driver, however neither one seems to work. Anyone have similar issues or have ideas? It's aggravating seeing some people posting that they have had no problems with this adapter ???

On what exatcly? I have a GameStop near my house, and a BestBuy. I was looking at the controllers and it looked like the PS2 controllers are cheaper simply becasue they are Last-gen. IS there a benifit to getting a usb, 360 controller over the PS2 one?
It's such a fine line between stupid and genius.

Yes, you need an adapter for the PS2 controller.
XBox 360 controller should plug'n'play since it's already a USB.
On a side note, I just got the Radioshack $11 PSX/2 to USB converter and it works like a champ with the RO wireless! No special setup. Just install radioshack drivers (I went into the control panel/game controllers to double check that it worked), start up FoF, and program your keys. No problems what-so-ever!
