You need to get an adapter to put on the wireless receiver portion that plugs into the PS2. The USB you are plugging in does not pass any controller commands. It is just for charging. Look at red octane for an adapter.

You shouldn't have to push the button to turn it on - it should automatically light up and work. I just got my 360 guitar controller the other day, and it works perfectly for me... all I needed to do initially was let it connect to windows update to find the driver. Is nice!

When I use the 360 guitar in Linux with the xpad module the lights only come on for a second when I first plug it in. After that they stay off but the guitar is ready to be mapped and working.

Also, I followed what was stated earlier and typed in "Xbox 360 Controller Drivers" with Google to get to the MSoft page. I get the page, click to download, but when I get the prompt and click "Run", it pops up and says: "Update/update.exe does not run on Win32" or something like that.

I have no idea about what any of that means. Any chance anyone can help?

I had the same problem as this guy. Plugged in guitar and hardware wizard couldn't find drivers. Then I did what everyone else does and typed in "Xbox 360 controller driver" and downloaded and installed what I thought was the correct driver. BIG MISTAKE!!! Do NOT install the Xinput driver. It will screw up your hardware install process. The Xinput driver is used for software developers to map the controller to their software. In order to correct the problem I had to do a full system restore to a point before I installed the xinput thing and then install the correct driver before plugging in the guitar. The correct driver (for windows 32 bit) can be found here.

If you install the xinput driver you are in a world of hurt. It took my like 4 hours to figure out what the problem was!

Please be patient with people who are having driver problems. Depending on your windows install (and I evern had SP2) it might not be as easy as just plugging in the controller.

Hope this helps someone out.

Should a radio shack converter work with the Frontman? Because if not I need to go ahead and order the RedOctane one.

Help please with the 360 explorer.

I followed the instructions at
http://www.althack.com/2007....troller
and got to the key settings part and inputted everything. Everything is working fine except for the fret keys. I had to mess around with them and instead of 12345, I so far have 3245.

My question is, I cannot get the orange key to work. I just played a song and I had to skip every orange note. What do i input to get the orange key working?

Read previous posts about the Radio Shack adapter. I saw that some people recommended against it and some people stated that it worked great for them.

If you are using the 360 x-plorer controller in windows then it should be plug and play and you should not be following the instructions on that site. Those instructions are for using a PS2 controller with an adapter. With the 360 controller you should be able to just plug it in and play. You are probably screwing it up by using joy2key.

Well I ended up getting the radioshack adapter and it works but I dont really like playing with the controller... on fast parts i do better with the keyboard... which is weird... lol Like Deathklok- Thuderhorse: With Contoller 68k, Without 101k 5*.... Whats wrong with it? I cant do the fast parts as good...

is guitaar hero controler any easier than a keyboard? myy fingers gett confused where they are alot and i cant hit the f5 button most of the time cause theirs a gap on my keyboard every 4 "frets" (so their grouped f1-f4 space than f5-f8 space f9-f12) so back to the original question is the gh controller easier?

How exactly do I use the X360 X-Plorer?

When I plugged it in, it was immediately identified, though the "New Hardware" wizard wanted to search for drivers. I didn't have the internet running at the time, and now it no longer recognizes the controller as "new" software.

I opened the "Game Controller" options under Control Panel to install it manually, but it only has support for 4 buttons. I also tried searching Google for one, but all the results are really vague; and no drivers.

Someone link me to one they used, please.
