does anyone know of a very low system resource consuming, high quality screen recording software?

I don't think that "very low system resource consuming" and "high quality" really fits together. But anyway, I use Fraps.

hoW??? When you play it back it like goes black every other second during playback!

I noticed that too. I think that between Fraps and Camstudio, Cam Studio uses more memory.

Just use Fraps. When you record something open that file up in Windows movie maker, save it, and it will be a way smaller size.

I'm now using Hypercam, the new version. I make it not in fullscreen and the lowest resolution possible. I did it with sound too. I didn't have much lag. Oh an I was using the new Alarian. That's 2.9.

FRAPS is probably the best for low memory but for recording desktop Camtasia is the best

If you don't have $400, pirated Camtasia. XD
Nah, if you don't have $400 probably next best choice is Camstudio.

Fraps provides the highest quality, but can be rather CPU-heavy.
In that case Growler Guncam would be a better choice.

fraps and camtasia are the best... and both are very, VERY easy to find cracked. growler is nice but fraps is superior.
