I heard about it in some magazine (EGM?) then I checked it out six months later.

meh, I searched google for a "pc guitar hero clone". Tried PC Guitar Hero Clone, as it was the first entry. I hated it, found fof on sourceforge and have been rokking out ever since.

First a friend told me about Ultrastar, a Singstar Clone for PC. It works realy good. Someday later, when i came home, my brother showed me FOF, 'cause he knew that my favourite PS2 games where Singstar and Guitar Hero, so he searched for a GH Clone for PC.

i was reading through the wikipedia list of freeware games, and FoF was on there. i already loved GH, but didn't own it due to a lack of PS2, so when i saw "Frets on Fire: a PC Guitar Hero Clone" i was like SWEEEEEEEEEET!!!!!!!

Googled "PC Guitar Hero Clone"

I had already used Freetar for a while so I was used to the editor and the keyboard controls.

Jesus came to me in a dream. He was all like "I want to save your soul". I punched the sucker in the mouth, then Jurgen came along and was all like "You rule so hard, ja? You should play that awesome game 'Frets on Fire'." And I did.

Fact.
Its just like life. Quite interesting in parts, but no substitute for the real thing.

I walked into "The Source" electronics store, walked by the computers, and saw a GH controller conected to a PC, so I picked it up and started playing. A sales dude came up to me, and i said i wanted to buy this game, then he told me about FOF. After about 2 hours of being in the store, and around closing time, i went home and downloaded it, and the rest is history.
