Hey guys.

I'm new here and only started playing today.

I find it quite hard to reach the F5 and then miss notes.

Is it just a matter of practive or is there an easier way to change the keys round?

I was thinking maybe 1234 and 5 but would they be a bit to close?

you can modify the keys in the settings.
Use whatever you 'd like.

But IMO, if this is something you think you are going to like, get a guitar controller. (Use the Search button above to find posts about what Guitars to use)

I saw that some players are using:
Esc F1-F2-F3-F4 or F4 F5-F6-F7-F8
I started with F1-F2-F3-F4 F5 and I keep playing this way. You just need to move your four fingers at F2-F3-F4-F5 when there is a need of F5 and just move the index finger to reach F1, when necessary, or play with the four fingers on F1-F2-F3-F4 when there is no/almost no need of F5. Don't worry, you'll get used to it whatever the case is <;

Practice. That's the best advice you'll get.
Goodbye everyone. It's been fun. I spent many many hours here on these boards and playing/contributing to FoF. Today I uninstalled my game and deleted all my files. I just don't have the time or interest anymore. I won't be coming back here anymore. I might show up in the IRC from time to time to chat. I regret nothing.

So long, farewell.

Space as a pick is inconvenient, it is easily accidentally pushed by my hands while I play. I usa 12345 with Enter/RShift as pick. Sometimes also play in Lefty mode with same keys.

The best way to go is to test out a lot of key combos. Look for a combo that lets you hold as many as the frets down, and lets you double strum.

I myself use ~1234 and \ and ] for the strums. I can hold all 5 frets down and double strum.

I use QWERT and Enter/Right Shift for strumming.
I can hold down all five frets and strum as much as i want.

I use the original F1-F5 with Enter and Right Shift as pick and secondary pick. It takes a lot of practice to get used to the F4-F5 gap, but on my keyboard the 12345 keys are inconvienent, and I'm used to it now anyways.
