I was looking for some great OpenSource Games for my newly installed Linux. On holarse-linuxgaming.de there was FoF listed. After seeing the Screens and switching back to Windows (FoF didn't work on Linux) I began to rock.

Fact.

so u punched jesus? ure goin to hell

Dude that is SO METAL.

I originally saw GH in the EBGames demo station, and paid it no more mind until GH2 was being advertised EVERYWHERE. Then I got severely interested after watching some videos of really good people playing GH, and wanted to get GH2. Then I mourned the fact that the series was (then) exclusive to PlayStation, as I have sworn on the Book of Adams never to own a Sony gaming product. Then I figured, "Well the second game is coming out so someone MUST have emulated it for the PC by now..." and found FoF in a Google search. Since then I have surpassed my original YouTube inspiration and turned 6 people into FoF addicts.

I was at the Assembly Lan party(in Finland) where was FOF first release. There was "new games" competition where every lan gamer can vote for some game. I voted FOF of cource :p . Every game show they own demo video. FOF demo video is same what is in home page. First there is Jurgen and then twihmpg song with 99%. FOF wins the competition with 4000+ votes(what I remember, it could be 3000+). And I remember when I sucked :D . I was very happy if get 40k in Bang Bang in easy  . So here is my story :)

I had never heard of Guitar Hero or any other guitar clones.. nor really ever knew that this kind of thing existed (other than those arcade machine ones).. I don't own a PS2/Xbox.

Was at a friend's place (small Lan) and he showed me FOF.. I thought the game was crap, it only had 3 songs and the one I was shown did absolutely nothing for me... I didn't bother having a go myself at it nor was I aware that extra songs could be added

Then about 1 wk later I was bored, and decided to download/try it out.. to my surprise I really enjoyed those 3 songs and played them over and over and over... then I discovered (through google) that FOF allows custom made songs to be added! Then I discovered this forum, discovered how to make my own songs and it kind of snowballed from there.. - I still don't own a Ps2/Xbox... but have the GH controller :)
My custom songs can now be found in the one place:-Homerrulz Song Thread

An online friend of mine kept mentioning it to me and posted about it at BME studioz community, saying how it was such a cool game that was like guitar hero (the first time I'd ever heard about such a thing). After about a month of ignoring him I finally downloaded the game at school (they have high-speed, alas) and it was awesome. So I played it, downloaded some songs, then joined the FoFFF

My scenario was that one of my friends simply told me to download it. So, I did.
The next time, though, he told me to dowload a game and then the game **** up my internet connection for a couple of days!! I've never listened to him after that.

I found it mentioned in an article on instructables.com, and shortly after found this forum.
Goodbye everyone. It's been fun. I spent many many hours here on these boards and playing/contributing to FoF. Today I uninstalled my game and deleted all my files. I just don't have the time or interest anymore. I won't be coming back here anymore. I might show up in the IRC from time to time to chat. I regret nothing.

So long, farewell.

I heard about it in an IRC channel. It was purely chance, but it just bores me to think about the possiblities of "What if I hadn't seen that link?" etc., I just happened to see it and here I am, that's all that matters! You can't stand against fate.
