I posted this in the Installation forum but no one has responded and I noticed controller-related posts here.

I have an old generic PS2->PC controller that I used with my PS2 DDR pad without problems. I plug it in and plug the wireless receiver into it, but it doesn't recognize the guitar. Is there like an installer or do I have to shell out the $65 for an XBOX360 controller?

Thanks! :)

By the way, I already tried that ppjoystick program, and it doesn't recognize the guitar. I read someone got it to work with the RadioShack PS2 to PC adapter but I wanted to see if I could get it working with mine, if it could possibly be something I was doing instead of a compatibility issue.

I hear the Radio Shack adapter doesn't recognize the whammy bar. Is there an adapter that recognizes the whammy bar? For GH2 Select is the same as putting the guitar upright, I wonder if I can do the same with Frets on Fire.

Already have over 400 songs :D I'm importing GHI now (23 of 49 songs done) and will do GHII tomorrow.

The whammy won't work on any converter that thinks the controller is a PS1 controller and not a PS2. PS2 controllers have the analog sticks which pretty much is, the whammy. On PS1, that it just turned in to up like the pick bar.

I keep seeing GZ... what does that stand for?

So am I correct in that using Joy2Pad I can reconfigure the start button to act as the whammy bar and the select button as the select button (which is mapped to the guitar upright function?)

I don't care what I have to press as long as I keep functionality :D Thanks! :)

GZ standts for Guitar Zero a fan-made but now sure dead pcremake of the PS2 Guitar Hero. It`s quite hard to find it sicne the author desicsion was the give up the project. But torrents and fan-sites still keep it and it sure worth a look.

and why worry about whammy support? FOF does not use it anyway. doesn't sound like it will anytime soon anyway.

good job double posting that. But yeah I dont think we ever will have Whammy support and by the time we do there might even be a better GH clone out there, or they might actually release it for PC.
