someone out ther that had already produced something with separate tracks.

I guess the best thing that can easily be achieved is by using some kind of low-pass/high-pass on two copies of the song, the kind of dsp filter that most sound editor have. Trying to keep maybe drum and bass on one track and the remaining on the other...I did this for a track but didn't have the heart to finish the .mid

but remember that a good way for not having sound problems is to aim 100% accuracy!!

The new link to freetar doesn't work. It says that the download will be available when it's released. I just started to make a song using the ingame editor but I wouldn't want to waste my time if it's much easier to do it with freetar.
How big is the installation file? Could someone send it via email, IRC etc?

Ahh thank you.. I have been playing too much.. Can't see anything but colorful dots.. :)
I tried the editor very briefly. It doesn't seem to be that much easier to use than the ingame editor. Well.. I'll look into it tomorrow.

Made the song This Lullaby using it.

On the Freetar editor t'was perfect, doesn't seem that way once put into the game.
Sayonara, not to be confused with cyanide, which is, of course, goodbye in any language.

Try selecting all the notes and moving them one to the left using the arrow keys.

Ummm, selecting all the notes and moving them in freetar might not be the best idea. If you have multiple notes closely strung together (for example 4 sixteenth notes in a row) they may become distorted or deleted altogether. After making a few songs I've noticed this is a BIG problem when trying to fix the sync of songs.

If they are all off sync you can try using the "Frets On Fire MIDI Note Shifter" here. I've not used it yet, but it's worth a try.
Goodbye everyone. It's been fun. I spent many many hours here on these boards and playing/contributing to FoF. Today I uninstalled my game and deleted all my files. I just don't have the time or interest anymore. I won't be coming back here anymore. I might show up in the IRC from time to time to chat. I regret nothing.

So long, farewell.

I mean, the instructions here ( Thanks Very Much btw ) say to copy the song.ogg and rename it guitar.ogg. this makes both of those files the same.
I noticed with the GH songs that when you quit playing keyboard the guitar sound quits playing. This is what i am trying to re-produce. Most homemade songs I see the guitar part just keeps going. Does anyone now how or what tools to use?
Thanks again for the instructions so far and any help you may have with the post.

Hoping to be releasing a song soon !

The GH songs have seperate tracks because red octane did covers and recorded the instruments separatly. What you think red octane just magically split the tracks apart from the original?

No tools can split tracks without distorting the quality.

unless you made the track yourself and have it recorded on seperate tracks or somehow got a hold of a guitarless track you can't

(Ok, not necessarily can't but it will sound like someone hitting a washing machine with a mallot)
It's only a virtue if you're not a screwup.

Hey

First of all, thanks for making this great tutorial. I find it a lot easier to use than the built-in song maker simply because I can just press buttons in time with the music rather than have to fiddle around with exact timing settings.

My problems is this; I've converted an mp3 to an ogg, it plays fine in windows media player, but when I use my song file and than ogg in FoF, it plays really slowly. Every other song I have is fine, and the notes still come at me at the right speed, but my converted ogg file plays at about 0.75 speed. Is there an obvious thing that I'm not doing that's causing this?

I started fretting a song with Freetar editor, but now I can't open the files i created again.

It just says " OH NO! An Error Occured In The Program!"

And right below it has some information about the problem:
"I/O Exception when attempting to load song from file."

I tried to make a new file, but again I can't edit it either. The only way to continue my project seems to be with the built-in editor in FoF and I think its not as good as Freetar.
