Re: EOF 1.8b34 - Now with Guitar Hero import

The problem with the Feedback input method is the work flow of a typical Feedback user is incompatible with EOF's standard work flow. Feedback users don't always create a tempo map before placing notes. A typical Feedback work flow involves making many tiny BPM adjustments after notes have already b...

Re: Best FoF Mod... Opinions?

Phase Shift is Windows-only, though, and not really an FoF mod. If you are on Windows, it is worth checking out. FoFiX is available for Windows, Linux, and Mac. Both are great.

Edit: I hear Phase Shift is compatible with Wine, so you should be able to play it on Linux and Mac as well.

Re: FoFiX 4.0.0 Development Thread

Removing the line 'dispatch.sysex_event(sysex_data)' does indeed fix the problem. Here is a patch:

Re: FoFiX 4.0.0 Development Thread

Looking at the code I can see that 'dispatch.sysex_event' should be 'dispatch.system_exclusive'. That would at least let the program continue to run. Still not sure if the sysex parsing itself is correct. Edit: The dispatcher doesn't do anything with sysex events so it would probably be better to ju...

Re: FoFiX 4.0.0 Development Thread

What is the problem with the Sysex parsing? It should be easy to fix as long as FoFiX isn't supposed to be doing anything with these events. The code looks ok but it doesn't handle divided Sysex events at all: # Is it a sysex_event ?? elif status == SYSTEM_EXCLUSIVE: # ignore sysex events sysex_leng...

Re: EOF 1.8b28 - Now with Guitar Hero import

Allegro 5 uses a new API so old Allegro 4 code won't work with it. We have plans to migrate EOF to Allegro 5 but I'm not sure when exactly that is going to happen. The main thing preventing that is the lack of a GUI for Allegro 5. In the development branch of Allegro there is a native menus implemen...

Re: EOF 1.8b28 - Now with Guitar Hero import

The crashing with that key combination (Ctrl+End) happens in all Allegro apps on OS X. I think you may have discovered a bug in Allegro. Since this is an issue, it might be a good time to make the shortcut keys work like other Mac programs. Here is a test build: EOF 1.8 Beta 28r2 Mac OS X (10.5+) Al...

Re: Mac OS 10.7 (Lion) compatibility

The message box that pops up (about MP3 support) is causing the mouse to get messed up in EOF. I made a test build for you with the message box disabled so you can see if it works in Lion. Here is the link: EOF 1.8b18 Mac OS X Alternative (10.5+) If this still doesn't work then I don't think there's...

Re: Mac OS 10.7 (Lion) compatibility

I don't have Lion yet but the issue you describe affects Snow Leopard as well. To get the program to respond, I have to move the mouse all the way down to the bottom of the screen and back up to the EOF window to get it to start responding.

Re: EOF 1.8b14 - Now with five lane drum support

I'm getting a lot of lag trying to edit a large file. The .ogg is 38.6 mb, and the song lags, but the notes don't. By 2 measures in, the song is about 2 measures off from the actual notes, and it gets worse as it goes on. If the audio is lagging you should try increasing the buffer size. I usually ...

Re: EOF 1.8b14 - Now with five lane drum support

The Mac freezing issue is caused by a bug in Allegro. I have implemented a workaround for this issue.

Re: EOF 1.8b14 - Now with five lane drum support

However when I switch to another application and back to EOF, I can still see my pointer, but I can't click on anything as if it were frozen.

It does the same thing for me. I'll look into it this afternoon. It's possible EOF is actually freezing when switching out and back.

Try moving your mouse all the way to the bottom of the desktop and back to the EOF window. I have the same issue and this works for me.
