Re: FoFiX 4.0.0 Development Thread
IMO learning Python's not the problem. It's like the easiest language to learn ever (assuming you already know how to program). The real problem is learning your way around the FoFiX source and its design.

Reverse Conversation
[ This is like a random conversation thread, except that the posts are the other way round (i.e. this is the final post of the thread, the next one is the second-last post, the next one is the third last, etc.). You must continue the thread with the post that came before the previous post. When the ...

Re: FoFiX 4.0.0 Development Thread
Can we add a note on this wiki page - http://code.google.com/p/fofix/wiki/RunningUnderGNULinux - saying to turn off compiz on Ubuntu? Turning it off makes the game much less stuttery to me (although the built-in FPS counter reads about the same).

Re: Fifth Note at Non-Amazing Difficulty
GH2's use of orange on Hard isn't so much "GRYB with occasional O" but more "alternating long sections of just GRYB and just RYBO" (so you don't have to move your hand around as often as on expert).

Re: FoFiX v3.121 Released
Well I still get bad (albeit playable) performance on Ubuntu 9.10 running from source with py2.6/gl3. Mind you I haven't compared to py2.4/gl2 but only because I don't want to downgrade my python installation and downgrade all the packages to versions compatible with that. But the strange thing is t...

And make sure you allocate one of the 4 controller spaces to your new controller.

Re: *HIGHLY EXPERIMENTAL* Debian/Ubuntu packages for FoFiX
Well I just installed it with Ubuntu's built-in GUI package installer. Running it gave me an import error for Numeric, so I installed Numeric using Synaptic and then it worked fine, other than the stuttering I always got with the python 2.6 version (including in Windows). Except multi-track songs do...

Re: What *is* FoFiX?
That's pretty much right. FoFiX is a fork of RF-Mod which is a fork of FoF, so in a sense FoFiX is a fork of FoF. FoF is technically maintained still by Unreal Voodoo but it hasn't been updated since a long time ago and RF-Mod is no longer maintained. These days when people refer to FoF they general...

Re: Some Small Fretting Rules (HELP!)
Bends - I agree with NSBRDan. To me it feels natural to chart (and play) the extra note when the bend is made quickly (see Meant to Live in my signature, if you can be bothered), but if it's gradual then it feels strange to have to play extra notes. Dead notes - I'd chart them as I do palm-muted not...

Behind the multiplier. It would be easier to spot in-game when it's moving and changing colours than in a static mockup.

Sorry for off topic, but "nothing in this world worth having is free" in the signature for a forum about a piece of open source software?

SP-around-multiplier makes sense.
1) SP doubles your multiplier, so they should be connected
2) In a circle, it would be easy to see 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 as they are at the horizontal and vertical positions.
But I do also think SP-down-the-sides is easier to read at a glance.

Re: [WIP] FoFiX Theme for 4.0.0 - by the community
So I tried Nickstr's notes and I quite like them but they don't really give the full idea of Leapo's mockup when used alongside the other RB images (as RB has quite subdued edges whereas Leapo's edges are very bright and defined). I think that the yellow note is too light and needs more saturation (...
