How do I play the drum tracks with my GH:WT drumset?

I hook my drum set up to my PC with the MIDI to USB cable that RedOctane sent me, but it won't let me use the drums as a controller.

it would be cool like on guitar hero if we could press the spacebar to get more points and we would rock out even harder
