I have Guitar Hero 2 for Xbox 360. The guitar is USB of course. I just tried the guitar in my Mac (for use with Frets on Fire,) but was not successful. The device shows up in System Profiler like so: Guitar Hero X-plorer: Version: 31.22 Bus Power (mA): 500 Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec Manufacturer: RedOct...

Actually, lots of apps on the Mac just go in the Applications folder, and the user doesn't need to root around inside the package at all. Instead, upon launching, these apps "install themselves" and create support folders in "/Users/username/Library," or "/Users/username/Library/Application Support....

The nice thing about the .app system is that there aren't a jumble of folders cluttering the desktop, because the folders are hidden in the file. While agree the .app system (with us installing the songs inside the package) results in a "cleaner" install, it's decidedly non-standard and will throw ...

Thanks, lardbloke. I had USB Overdrive installed, and proceeded to map the keys on my original Guitar Hero (Red Octane, model PSLGH) controller. I was able to map the five fret buttons... but not the PICK... it doesn't register in USB Overdrive at all. (I was able to map the start/select buttons ins...

Well, without any answer from anyone here, I went out and bought the Radio Shack Playstation->USB adapter to try. It did not work. Can anyone tell me about another one that will work, specifically on a Mac? Any experience/insight into either of these: http://www.(spam)/div-cn/ps2-pcbox2 http://www.r...

Heh, the ChatFX product requires a minimum of OS X 10.4 (as it uses Quartz Composer, a new feature in Tiger,) so I doubt anyone on 10.3.9 would have it installed. ;) However, were they to install it anyway? I suppose it would conflict with Frets on Fire. Now, *why* these two apps don't like each oth...

Thanks isaacrdz, I tried that too. Actually that was one of my first troubleshooting tests, since I know Application Enhance often causes weirdness. Unfortunately the Master Excluding didn't have any effect; the FOF app still quit immediately. I did, however, just find the culprit... and it's a very...

I have a MacBook Pro 2 Ghz Intel Core Duo, with 2 GB of RAM. Running OS X 10.4.8. Very excited about this app. HOWEVER, when I launch Frets on Fire, the (generic) icon appears and bounces in my dock... it changes to the custom icon... and then the app quits. I've tried again (and again and again,) r...
