Depends. If it is with the keyboard, I prefer to sit down. If I am using a guitar controller (on GH) then I stand up so that I get free range of motion with my arms.

I have noticed it too. Also in get ready 2 rokk, and in that song it speeds up and slows down right before notes, so it is throwing your timing off and you keep missing notes.
